“Undercover” explores the relationship between cosmetics and appearance. The creative process began with empty cosmetic packaging attached to the canvas. The moldable resin was shaped into swirls and placed over the containers, followed by a spray of thick ivory-white paint covering the surface, with additional swirls on top. This final paint layer represents the purpose of cosmetics—to cover and polish—but the result is uniform paleness, symbolizing the loss of individuality. Beneath this cover-up, the packaging details fade, much like how made-up faces, resemble a bas-relief in gypsum. Society often defines “normal” as blending in, leading us to hide parts of ourselves to conform. Covering up needlessly homogenizes our appearances, depriving us of our original texture and lustre. "Undercover" encourages viewers to question society's standards and reflect: Who do we truly want to be beyond these veils?
